Solar States’ mission is to connect Philadelphia public school students with the green-collar economy through training and jobs. Solar States is partnering with Philadelphia High Schools to create a solar energy course-curriculum. Students will learn about every aspect of solar energy, from the science of how it works, its impact on the environment, to the economics of solar energy’s return on investment.
Students will design and produce photovoltaic panels that will be used by Solar States to produce electricity. Solar States will partner with businesses and governmental agencies to lease and install PV on rooftop space in the Greater Philadelphia area. After students complete the Solar-States curriculum and graduate high school, Solar States will offer job opportunities in PV panel installation, maintenance and other areas within the organization.
